I'm working with a leading global investment firm that's hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its rapidly growing Asian commodities business in Singapore. Embedded directly with the investment team, you'll build data platforms, analytics tools, and intuitive applications that strengthen research and decision-making.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a hands-on engineer who can operate with autonomy, influence technical direction, and grow into a leadership role within the Singapore team.
What You'll Be Doing

1. Build research and analytics tools used directly by portfolio managers and analysts.
2. Develop robust pipelines for complex market, alternative, and fundamental datasets.
3. Turn investment ideas into production-ready platforms and lightweight user interfaces.
4. Apply cutting-edge LLMs and AI tools to improve research workflows.
5. Work closely with end users, iterate quickly, and deliver practical solutions.
6. Help shape the team's engineering strategy and technical standards.
7. Mentor engineers and progressively take on broader leadership responsibilities.

What We're Looking For

1. At least six years of strong software engineering experience.
2. Experience building data-intensive platforms, analytics products, or research tools.
3. A highly commercial mindset and the ability to work directly with investment professionals.
4. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, taking ownership, and delivering at speed.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate loosely defined ideas into effective products.
6. Mandarin proficiency is strongly preferred; otherwise, exceptional English communication is essential.
7. Candidates should be prepared for the pace and demands of a global trading environment.

Relevant Backgrounds

1. Desk-aligned engineering, quantitative development, or research technology within a hedge fund or trading firm.
2. Commercial engineering roles in technology companies across pricing, advertising, marketplaces, or forecasting.
3. Founding or early-stage engineering experience within a data or analytics startup.
4. Forward-deployed, analytics, or data engineering within a consultancy.
5. A finance background is helpful but not essential.
