Description
At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your telecom engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking teammates.
You'll play a critical role in ensuring the successful installation, testing, and commissioning of advanced telecom systems for railway networks. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (including civil works teams, project management, and engineering), oversee the execution of telecom activities on-site, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and much more.
You'll specifically take care of supervising and inspecting telecom systems such as TCP/IP, IP-MPLS, CCTV, TETRA Radio Systems, and Public Address systems, but also contribute to creating innovative telecom architectures and solutions for projects.
We'll look to you for:
- Coordinating activities of subcontractors on project planning, especially with civil works, and reporting to the regional Telecom Engineering head and Project Management.
- Supervising and inspecting all site telecommunications activities to ensure execution aligns with the Project Schedule, Site Specific Work Plans, and Approved Work Methods.
- Performing field inspections to ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and approved work methods.
- Supporting the commissioning team during the testing phase and ensuring seamless handovers with appropriate documentation.
- Analyzing requirements and proposing cost-effective solutions to the track lead engineer.
- Ensuring the design adheres to health and safety standards.
- Coordinating with other entities (e.g., other Alstom activities, civil work partners) on technical interfaces, especially with civil works.
- Resolving technical open issues on-site, from investigation to modification implementation and problem closure.
- Planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling design, configuration, maintenance, testing, and commissioning activities for telecommunication systems.
- Maintaining and coordinating As-Built Documentation submissions.
- Deploying and sizing networks, including fiber optic transmission and other physical deployments.
- Monitoring and maintaining network performance using tools like protocol analyzers and quality of service indicators.
All about you
We value passion and attitude over experience. That's why we don't expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we've listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure (e.g., switches, routers, firewalls, media converters).
- Understanding of associated protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, MPLS, LAN-WAN) and routing principles (static & dynamic).
- Familiarity with complex network design-both wired and wireless-and network architecture design.
- Experience in telecom subsystems and interfaces (railway systems experience is a plus).
- Working knowledge of switching and routing protocols.
- Experience with wireless communications in demanding scenarios.
- Prior experience managing medium-to-large projects and project teams.
- CCNA & CCNP certification (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including with third parties (e.g., clients).
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Experience in railway signalling systems is a plus.
