About Your Company

King Deux is partnering with global proprietary trading house presence in Greater China, Dubai, North and South America, Latam running hedge fund strategy in multi asset class. We are looking to replace the Head of risk to manage offices of 10 headcounts across Greater China. AUM ball parked at USD 1-2 bn.

About your role

1. Strategic Risk Governance: Establish and maintain the global risk appetite framework; advise the Board and C-suite on risk exposure across all regions and asset classes.
2. Capital & Product Oversight: Review and approve trading limits, new investment strategies, and product launches to ensure robust pre-trade risk controls.
3. Team & Leadership Building: Scale and mentor a high-performing global risk management team across regional offices to support rapid business expansion.
4. Strategic Business Partnering: Collaborate with senior leadership on global expansion, capital allocation, and key strategic initiatives.
5. Regulatory Relations: Act as the chief risk liaison for the Hong Kong SFC and other international regulatory bodies.
6. Quantitative Risk Frameworks: Design and refine advanced risk metrics, including VaR, Expected Shortfall, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
7. Tech & AI Innovation: Champion AI-driven and automated solutions to modernize risk monitoring, analytics, and reporting.
8. Risk Enforcement: Maintain absolute authority to pause, adjust, or escalate trading activities during limit breaches or policy violations.
9. Independent Board Oversight: Offer constructive challenge to strategic decisions as the risk voice at Board and Executive Committee meetings.

What you will need to succeed

1. Proven Track Record: 5+ years in markets/trading risk with leadership experience; ambitious Senior Managers/Deputies looking to step into their first Head of Risk role are strongly encouraged.
2. Direct Market Risk Exposure: Hands-on experience setting and enforcing live trading book limits, VaR, and Expected Shortfall frameworks.
3. Front-Office Mindset: Strong grasp of market dynamics; background in trading or front-office functions is preferred over purely control-focused roles.
4. Global & Regulatory Expertise: Experience navigating multi-jurisdictional risk and interacting with international regulators (specifically the SFC).
5. Quantitative & Tech Skills: Solid proficiency in risk modeling and familiarity with AI applications in risk management.
6. Professional Credentials: CFA, FRM, or PRM designations preferred; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline required.
7. Communication & Languages: Exceptional communication skills in English, paired with fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin.
