Description
Electrochemical product support & development of batteries & battery systems. Provide technical support and assistance to manufacturing, purchasing, and quality to resolve issues. Interface with sales/marketing teams and customers to meet or exceed their system requirements with a competitive cost structure design. Review and implement engineering changes while maintaining documentation and configuration management. Maintain MFG-PRO system in Product Engineering. Provide production support by disposition of NMRs and DRs. Assist product FMECA. Participate in the design of the mechanical or electrochemical aspects of cells and components in order to meet marketing and customer performance requirements, industry standards, and specifications.
Mission
Engage -in quick-response problem solving to keep (all product lines) production running as much as possible. Develop production techniques for batteries and resolve product performance issues up to and including product design.
Provide-problem solving expertise and directions for data collection in a team environment to resolve manufacturing issues, improve processes, correct problems of product performance, and provide valid testing results to confirm problems and the validity of corrective actions.
Design-systems and components in order to meet customer performance requirements and industry standards and specifications. Perform analysis using engineering tools and FMECA in order to ensure adequate design.
R & D-of new materials. Experimental set up for qualification and evaluation testing. Fabricate prototype cells, carry out analytical tests.
write-ECRs, ESIs, EFTs, TEOs as needed to support Production needs, communicating proposed changes in easily understood text and red-lined documents to expedite review and approval.
Develop-knowledge of NiCd batteries including Application and Failure Modes. Develop experience with cell electrochemical design, theory and testing.
Manage-Supplier partnerships using concurrent engineering and QFD tools in order to quickly bring high quality products to market.
Employee-has the responsibility to support World Class initiatives in our collective effort to improve the performance of the Company.
Occurrence and KPI
Engage- Disposition of DRs, initiation of rework directions, indentification of root causes of recurring problems and develop and implement viable solutions.
Provide-Resolution of problems, closure of PDCA teams, lower costs of waste and scrap, and improvements in quality, manufacturability, operating efficiency, and safety.
Design-Use of computer modeling and simulation programs to predict battery system electrical, thermal, and mechanical behavior. Participate in FMECA product activities. Participate in designing products to meet performance, delivery and process requirements that result in low manufacturing costs.
R & D-Use computer programs to test lifetime performance, of cells, capacity, IMP, and Internal Resistance of product and prototypes. Fabricate electrodes for evaluation purposes. Write TRs and work with test lab personell to set-up experiments.
write-Changes initiated to support Production needs for correct documentation, both temporary and "permanent."
Develop-Review Technical Literature, participate in DPAs and Root Cause analyses
Manage-Work with suppliers to reduce cost and share in the design effort at the earliest opportunity. Time to develop new products.
Employee-Reference World Class supplemental sheet guideleines for quantitative and qualitative achievement criteria.
