Job Summary The Manufacturing Department Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the manufacturing department to ensure efficient production, quality standards, and safety compliance. This role involves leading a team of supervisors and production staff, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating cross-functionally to meet organizational goals.
Essential Job Duties/Functions (Not all inclusive)
Lead and manage manufacturing operations to meet production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Supervise, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to resolve issues and optimize processes.
Drive lean manufacturing initiatives and support cost reduction efforts.
Maintain accurate production records and prepare reports for senior management.
Participate in strategic planning and budgeting for the department.
Manage cost of manufacturing by keeping operational expenses within budget and investigating cost-reduction measures.
Requirements
U.S. Person Requirement This position is subject to the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
Education High School Diploma or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field (preferred).
Work Experience 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Required & Preferred Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proven interpersonal skills and a strong ability to build rapport with stakeholders.
Proficiency in production planning software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic global environment with multiple changing priorities.
