SkyFire Energy is seeking a highly motivated and capable team member to manage and complete the electrical engineering of commercial and utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems. In this role you will be working with an experienced team in a fast-paced environment on exciting opportunities, both large and small, that make positive impacts in the communities with which we work.
The candidate best suited to this position will have the ability to efficiently and effectively manage a consistent and at times heavy workload, while thriving in a self-directed work environment. The candidate will have power systems and electrical engineering experience and competencies with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, subconsultants and clients in a professional, yet personable manner.
Primary duties include:
Manage the electrical engineering of commercial and utility scale solar projects, including the coordination of other engineering team members, drafting, and sub-consultants
Electrical engineering of solar PV and battery energy storage systems including: -Consideration and application of various utility technical interconnection requirements -Power system analysis -Protection and control system analysis and design -Industrial power system electrical design -Battery energy storage sizing, simulation and product selection -Leadership in design of solar PV systems for long term reliability and safe operations and maintenance
Manage the delivery of solar PV and battery energy storage system EPC and consulting project deliverables with internal and 3rd party engineering partners
Liaise with and support Sales and Project Management teams through all stages of project lifecycle as needed
Support internal team members in creating detailed PV system performance analysis
Support Utility-Scale Operations and Maintenance team on electrical engineering needs as required
Requirements
Requirements:
Experience in the design and construction of solar power systems
Professional Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 4 years experience as an Engineer
Registered and/or eligibility for registration with APEGA and EGBC
Considered an Asset
Project management skills and experience
Experience leading drafting and design teams
Drafting experience in AutoCAD
Clear understanding of the current Canadian Electrical Code and utility interconnection requirements
Experience with PVSyst, PVCase and other solar design and performance modelling tools Homer Grid, Energy Toolbase and/or other Battery Energy Storage System design optimization tools
Preference will be given to candidates located in Calgary, Edmonton or Kelowna
