Description
The Product Application Engineer is responsible for ensuring Bolin products are thoroughly tested, well documented, and successfully deployed in customer environments. This role combines product testing, technical consultation, customer support, documentation, and product training to help deliver high-quality customer experiences throughout the product lifecycle.
Reporting to the Chief Product and Revenue Officer, and working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing, the Product Application Engineer conducts product and firmware testing, assists customers with technical implementation, develops technical documentation, and represents the company through demonstrations, training, and industry events. The role also communicates technical findings and customer feedback to support continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Product Testing & Technical Evaluation
Perform functional testing of new products, firmware, software, and feature releases.
Test new features against documented requirements and expected functionality, and identify unintended impacts.
Identify, reproduce, document, and track product defects, firmware issues, and unexpected behavior.
Conduct interoperability testing with third-party products, software platforms, and industry protocols.
Document technical findings and communicate results to Product Management and Engineering.
Technical Pre-Sales Support
Conduct product demonstrations and technical training for customers, consultants, distributors, and technology partners.
Participate in technical discovery meetings to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
Advise customers on product capabilities, deployment options, compatibility, interoperability, and system design.
Technical Post-Sales Support
Provide advanced technical support for complex customer issues.
Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, software, networking, and system integration challenges.
Assist customers and partners with installation, configuration, commissioning, and optimization.
Reproduce field-reported issues to assist Engineering with root cause analysis.
Documentation
Develop and maintain product release notes.
Create and maintain user guides, installation guides, and technical reference documentation.
Produce FAQs, tutorials, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting resources.
Develop guides that help customers implement Bolin products in real-world environments.
Document validated third-party integrations and recommended deployment methods.
Create content demonstrating product functionality, setup procedures, and use cases for websites, social media, trade shows, and training platforms.
Event & Demonstration Support
Support content creation efforts by planning, configuring, and demonstrating products for technical videos, tutorials, feature showcases, and workflow demonstrations.
Assist in planning the technical execution of trade shows, roadshows, customer events, and industry demonstrations.
Configure, deploy, and validate product demonstrations and integrated technology solutions for events.
Assist with set-up and teardown of demonstration equipment as needed.
Represent the company professionally at industry events while gathering customer feedback and market insights.
Product Expertise & Market Feedback
Act as a technical and product-focused voice of Bolin to customers, partners, and internal teams.
Gather product and usability feedback from users and communicate insights to the product team.
Conduct both in-person and online training sessions, workshops, and webinars.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Technical Background
Strong understanding of broadcast and Pro AV workflows
Knowledge of PTZ camera systems and production environments
Experience with AV over IP technologies such as NDI, SRT, Dante AV, IPMX, and ST2110
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including IP addressing, subnets, multicast, VLANs, and managed switches.
Professional Skills
Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to customers and partners.
Presentation and training capabilities.
Experience creating technical documentation and educational content.
Comfortable working directly with customers, resellers, and system integrators.
Preferred Experience
Background in broadcast production, live event production, or Pro AV system integration.
Experience with video switchers, encoders/decoders, streaming, and camera control systems.
Previous experience as a Field Application Engineer, technical pre-sales, or similar role.
