The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position described below. As a condition of employment, employees are required to participate in the payroll direct deposit program. 

As a Corrections Deputy, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of our correctional facility. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires strong interpersonal skills, conflict management abilities, and a commitment to upholding the law.

Position Duties:

• Maintain order and discipline among inmates within the facility;
• Monitor inmates with psychiatric diagnosis and neuropsychological and cognitive functioning inabilities; 
• Conduct regular patrols and inspections to ensure security;
• Monitor inmate activities and respond to any signs of misconduct or potential threats;
• Enforce rules and regulations within the facility;
• Conduct searches for contraband items;
• Escort inmates to various locations within the facility, such as courtrooms or medical appointments;
• Prepare and maintain accurate reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and other relevant information;
• Operate CCTV systems to monitor inmate activities;
• Maintain strict confidentiality.

Requirements

•  High school diploma or equivalent;
•  Ability to work extended shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays;
•  Attain and remain current in all certifications described for eligibility for Corrections Deputy and satisfactory completion of the required probationary period.
•  Certified as a corrections deputy in compliance with F.S. 943.1395; possesses and maintain a valid Florida driver's license throughout employment without any restrictions which affect job performance.
