The Deputy City Engineer will assist the City Engineer and Public Works Department in reviewing plans for development and capital projects, providing professional engineering expertise for the City, coordinating assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies, and delivering complex administrative support. The Deputy City Engineer also provides comprehensive day-to-day leadership for execution of the Capital Improvements Program, serving as the City’s designated authority for coordinating consultants, managing schedules and budgets, resolving complex technical issues, and aligning work across departments. This role combines engineering judgment with organizational leadership to ensure projects advance in a disciplined manner that protects adopted budgets, maintains delivery timelines, and remains consistent with Council direction and City standards.

Requirements
What You Bring To Us: A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering or a similar field is required. A Master's degree in Engineering or Public Administration is highly preferred. Five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering or a closely related field is required. Four (4) years of highly responsible managerial experience is preferred. Possession of Certification as a Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Ability to remain flexible with your schedule. You work for the greater good of the City and live the values every day.
