Job title - Fabric Engineer

Mode - Onsite (40hrs a week)

Duration - Contract for 3 months (can extend)

Purpose:

Provision of all-round Fabric Engineer, maintaining all the R&D buildings and infrastructure at P&G Gillette, Reading. Must have an understanding & knowledge of all current Building Service Systems and contingency procedures, which comply with Health & Safety & Codes of Practice.

It is the Fabric Engineers role to support the Contract Manager by being the dedicated Fabric Engineer for the Research & Development Buildings and an integral member of the team delivering engineering excellence across the full spectrum of services, as well as assisting the wider team and client with tasks outside of the Fabric expertise but within capabilities when required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operate all systems within the buildings in a competent, effective, and efficient manner.
2. Issue relevant site Permits as part of the Safe System of Work.
3. Completion of PPM and Reactive Tasks and update the electronic workflow system keeping the records compliant.
4. Ensure that daily checks are completed and repair, report any defects found via the FM helpdesk.
5. Identification of materials required to be ordered & installed in a timely manner.
6. Comply with both statutory and company health, safety and environmental regulations and policies.
7. Ensure that Specialist Service Provider worksheets are reviewed & signed off, the quality of work is inspected, and recommendations are escalated to the Supervisor.
8. The Site team will ensure that Plant areas, workshops, stores, changing/rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping

The Engineer will be expected to work, and trouble shoot all building systems but not be limited to the following :

1. Decorating and general fabric repairs
2. Small plumbing repairs
3. Building Management Systems & Minor Electrical Monitoring (Training Given).
4. HVAC Systems, Including Humidifiers (Training Given).
5. Air Handling, Air Conditioning & Chillers (Training Given).
6. Domestic Water Services & Plumbing.
7. Pumps, Motors & Variable Speed Drive (Training Given).
8. Hot Water Calorifiers (Training Given).
9. Fire Systems (Training Given).
10. Previous knowledge of a compliance role an advantage

Skills:

1. Appropriate experience within Building Fabric Services
2. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with staff and Customers at all levels
3. Experience as an end user of a Building Management Systems (Trend). (Training Given).
4. Intermediate computer literacy using Windows Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) PDA & Tablet use.
5. Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
6. Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with experience of report writing.
7. Be able to adapt and work as a team outside of their trade but within their capabilities.

Qualifications: Advantage

1. C&G or equivalent experience in Fabric Engineering.
2. Legionella Awareness - L8 ACOP.
3. Be conversant with current Health and Safety legislation with relevance to safe working practices.
4. Sound level of administration/organisational skills & computer skills.
