As a Vice President for Data Risk within the Privacy Office, you ensure data is accurate, accessible, and secure while meeting stakeholder needs. You define and classify critical business data, oversee risk controls across the data lifecycle, and partner with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Controls to mitigate risks. You develop sustainable processes, metrics, and reports that inform senior leaders and strengthen compliance. You drive continuous improvement by streamlining processes and enabling automation.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee implementation and governance of data risk management policies and standards.
- Perform thematic analysis to identify process and control gaps; partner with stakeholders to strengthen risk posture.
- Design sustainable processes to monitor and report data risk metrics and key indicators.
- Deliver clear metrics, reports, and executive-ready presentations on status, risk posture, and control effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships; serve as an escalation point for issue resolution.
- Collaborate with control partners and business teams to maintain a robust control environment.
- Stay current on data localization and residency requirements; drive compliance across relevant jurisdictions.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate processes to improve consistency and scale.
- Advise business, technology, and data teams on data classification aligned to laws, regulations, and internal standards.
- Develop and present executive-level materials that articulate risks, decisions, and business impacts.
- Create and maintain training and guidance materials; support Privacy Office and program initiatives.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Five years of experience managing complex, multi‑year programs with matrixed teams.
- Experience in data risk management and familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements across the data lifecycle.
- Proven ability to document process flows and governance procedures.
- Experience working with complex operational, data, and technical concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to tailor messages to varied audiences.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and collaborate across functions.
- Strategic thinking and planning skills to drive innovation and practical solutions.
- Highly developed analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of privacy and data protection frameworks and standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience in a regulated financial institution.
- Industry certifications such as IAPP (CIPP/US, CIPT), CISA, or similar.
- Working knowledge of AI‑related laws and PCI‑DSS.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced education in data protection, privacy, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
