TEST ENGINEERTEST ENGINEER MGM Brakes, a division of Indian Head Industries, Inc., is the leading supplier of spring brake actuators and service chambers for domestic and global truck, trailer, bus and specialty vehicles for the commercial vehicle industry. We are currently seeking a highly enthusiastic individual for our Test Engineer position, located in our Charlotte, N.C. corporate office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Test Engineer is responsible for accurate and timely completion of engineering tasks such as testing and data collection, maintaining / updating engineering test files, lab operating procedures, and related files. The Test Engineer will work in conjunction with design engineering department, manufacturing plants, sales department, quality assurance, vendors, and customers on an as needed basis. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is required
- Basic wiring and electrical (DVOM) troubleshooting skills
- Basic metrology and measurement skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other engineering drawings
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective leadership skills, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload
- Develop and maintain current product knowledge
- Ability to work with tact and professionalism towards customers and vendors
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Coordinate with design engineering team to facilitate testing, researching specifications, and follow through
- Control and maintain test equipment during analysis period
- Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on lab test equipment, tools, and related test systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance
- Follow engineering test cycle and document results
- Analyze data and test results to draw conclusions from engineering testing
- Utilize data to support: new product development, R&D, product improvement, competitor analysis, field returns, etc.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, suppliers and corporate customer service department
- Responsible for test lab gage and equipment calibrations; maintains history in tracking software
