System Software EngineerJob Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Software Systems Engineer with deep expertise in Requirements Engineering to serve as a technical leader across multiple development programs. In this role, you will drive the definition, architecture alignment, decomposition, and verification pathways of system and software requirements for complex, mission-critical defense solutions. You will mentor junior engineers, influence design decisions, and ensure technical excellence across the engineering lifecycle.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the lead authority for system and software requirements engineering across designated programs.
- Lead the requirements elicitation, decomposition, analysis, allocation, and validation activities for complex multi-domain systems.
- Drive the creation and management of requirements baselines.
- Oversee development of engineering artifacts including SRS, ICDs, and functional architectures.
- Ensure end-to-end traceability and verification compliance using DOORS, Jama, or Polarion.
- Provide technical input during SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR reviews.
- Evaluate and adjudicate requirements changes and support CCBs.
- Partner with Systems Architects, Software Leads, Test Engineering, and PMs.
- Mentor junior engineers in requirements best practices.
- Support compliance with U.S. DoD, Army, and MIL-STD frameworks Supervisory Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)- Serve as the lead authority for system and software requirements engineering across designated programs.
- Lead the requirements elicitation, decomposition, analysis, allocation, and validation activities for complex multi-domain systems.
- Drive the creation and management of requirements baselines, ensuring alignment with customer needs, CONOPS, operational use cases, and system architecture.
- Oversee development of high-quality engineering artifacts, including System/Software Requirement Specifications, ICDs, block diagrams, and functional architectures.
- Ensure robust end-to-end traceability, verification methods, and compliance using tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion.
- Provide key technical input during SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and other major design reviews.
- Evaluate and adjudicate requirements changes, lead impact assessments, and support configuration control boards (CCBs).
- Partner closely with Systems Architects, Software Leads, Test Engineering, and Program Managers to ensure cohesive technical execution.
- Mentor and guide junior systems and software engineers in requirements best practices, tools, and standards.
- Support compliance with U.S. DoD, Army, and MIL-STD development frameworks.
- Contribute to and champion improvements in systems engineering processes, including MBSE adoption, requirement templates, and lifecycle governance Must display exceptional listening and analytical skills to understand customer concerns and needs with the ability to respond promptly and effectively to those needs.
- Detailed knowledge in Industrial Engineering and related Standards/ Processes
- Practical 'hands on' attitude with the ability to operate independently
- Must demonstrate an enthusiasm to engage with and support overseas colleagues to ensure all staff have the information and opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities.
- Must promote collaboration and facilitate teamwork across the organization and its external service providers. Must be tactful, diplomatic, and work with integrity, honesty, and respect for others.
- Must display exceptional listening and analytical skills in order to understand customer concerns and needs with the ability to respond promptly and effectively to those needs.

Will clarify and define the goals and strategies of the organization and successfully communicate this to all. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to work effectively with the US team, suppliers, customer, and corporate parent staff.
- High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task; balancing "analysis" with "doing". Must be adaptable and able to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Work on own initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements
- Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and procurement
- Familiarity with the US Army TACOM and Ground Vehicle System Center
Education:
- BSc Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive) or
- Extensive Combat Vehicle Technical Build and Test Experience
Experience:
- 5 - 15 years
Background Prerequisites:
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
- All employment at ARV is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if the position requires it.
