MJ is looking for a dynamic and experienced Special Systems Design Engineer to join our team and support our growing Airport clients in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. About the Role:
We seek a talented engineer aspiring to become a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD). With 3 to 5+ years of progressive experience in special systems design within the A/E/C field, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality projects.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate technical special systems design plans, drawings, specifications, and layouts from project kickoff to punch list, ensuring timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
- Attend meetings and effectively coordinate design with other disciplines, client representatives, architects, and building managers.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local codes.
- Adhere to QA/QC processes to maintain high quality and uniform standards.
- Assist with business development, client management, and proposal development.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent certificate required, with PE licensure or equivalent industry certification preferred.
- Solid technical background with 5+ years of ICT, Security, and/or Communications engineering experience, specifically in developing contract documents for:
- Electronic Video Information Display System design
- Security, CCTV and Access Control Systems design
- Universal Cabling Distribution Systems design
- Telecommunications Space Design
- Voice/Data Network design/architecture
- Public Address System design
- Wi-Fi, DAS, Radio Systems design
- Audio Visual Systems Design
- Airport Information Systems
- Healthcare Information Systems
- Corrections Information Systems
- Division 27 and 28 Specification Writing
- Strong foundation in the principles published by BICSI and knowledgeable in the NEC and TIA codes and standards.
- Interest and ability to do in-depth study and learn about any specialty system and integration required by the project’s facility.
- Proficient in AutoCAD REVIT, and MS Office Suite.
- Superior organizational and interpersonal skills to work effectively as a team, develop and maintain client relations, and meet project demands and schedules.
