Power the Future of the Columbia Basin – Join Us as a Senior Reliability Engineer – Electrical
Columbia Basin Trust is seeking a Senior Reliability Engineer – Electrical. This role supports the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the Trust’s hydroelectric generating assets. As a Senior Reliability Engineer – Electrical, you will deliver technical expertise to support maintenance program execution, lead rootcause investigations, and drive capital improvement efforts, while managing projects that enhance equipment reliability and performance.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Castlegar, where you’ll enjoy a collaborative and supportive team environment and the unique lifestyle of the West Kootenay region.
Salary Range: $121,000 – $142,200
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, you will:
- Develop and implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs, using the Trust’s CMMS program to enhance asset performance and proactively manage emerging risks.
- Provide technical leadership for equipment and system reliability, including support for maintenance planning, budgeting, capital projects, and compliance with regulatory and reliability standards.
- Develop and manage reliability-focused projects from scope and cost estimates to procurement, execution, and on-site technical support during installation and commissioning.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing engineering documentation, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, and enhancing engineering practices and technical libraries.
- Support incident response, conduct root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to minimize forced outages and prevent recurrence.

Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or eligibility for registration.
- 7-10+ years of demonstrated experience in a related engineering field, preferably within hydroelectric or power generation facilities.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
- Excellent computer applications skills for a variety of systems related to engineering programs and the ability to operate the related software for specific engineering needs.
