About Our Client

Our client, a leading financial institution in Hong Kong, is seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional to join the Operations Division as part of the 1.5 Line of Defense. This role plays a key part in strengthening the risk culture, overseeing operational-risk controls, and supporting the business in effective risk management.

Job Description

• Act as a 1.5 Line of Defense function within Operations, providing oversight, challenge, and advisory on operational-risk matters.
• Review and assess operational-risk incidents, control gaps, KRIs, and process risks across the division.
• Drive the implementation and enhancement of risk and control frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal policies.
• Partner with 1st LoD teams to identify risks, evaluate controls, and support corrective action plans.
• Conduct thematic reviews, risk assessments, and control testing where required.
• Support Operational Risk reporting and provide insights to senior management.
• Promote risk awareness and best practices within the Operations Division.

The Successful Applicant

• 8+ years of experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, or relevant risk-control functions within the financial services or banking industry.
• Experience in a 1.5 Line of Defense or risk advisory role strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of operational risk frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and internal control principles.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills; able to challenge constructively and communicate risk concepts clearly.
• Proactive, analytical, and able to operate independently.
