Description
Reporting to the Provincial Director of Protective Services (PS), Business Standards and Operational Support (BSOS), the Provincial Manager of the Security Operations Centre (SOC) leads the day-to-day operations of our South Zone SOC. Our South Zone SOC operates 24/7, leading a team of up to 25 staff including Team Leads and Dispatchers. This position is accountable for the overall performance of the South Zone Team to ensure compliance with provincial policy and procedures, meeting performance metrics and compliance with governing legislation. The South Zone SOC is also supported by our North Zone SOC located in Edmonton. This position requires extensive knowledge about the key issues of a complex health care system and how it’s supported by a large complement of Community Peace Officers and Security staff. The candidate is required to have an awareness of related external issues and/or factors that may affect regional operations. A major factor contributing to complexity lies in the requirement of this position to manage communication between various levels of stakeholders and the risks associated with sharing and/or releasing sensitive information. This position has direct oversight of the 24/7 frontline security dispatchers, schedulers, that distribute safety and security responses and communications provincially to support Protective Services service delivery model, clinical operations and the safety and security of all provincial healthcare facilities PS operates in throughout the province. This is a fast-paced environment where dispatch teams communicate with hundreds of frontline peace officers, security guards and clinicians daily. Our goal is to maintain the highest level of safety for patients, visitors, clinical partners and our officers.

This position is in Calgary Alberta at our Southport Tower location, with breath taking views of the Rocky Mountains. This position has a requirement to be a Manager on Call (MOC) on a rotational basis sharing responsibility with the North Zone Manager and other leaders.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
2 years post-secondary education in Law Enforcement, Security & Asset Protection. Emergency Communications and Response or related. A combination of experience and education may be considered. Five to seven years’ experience in security or law enforcement or managing a security dispatch center including one to three years supervisory or management experience.

Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and critical decision-making skills. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners. Class 5 driver's license or non GDL is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Management or progressive leadership experience in healthcare security or related field. Experience leading operations in a dispatch environment is an asset. Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator is an asset. Certified Protection Professional is an asset. Security Management Certificate is an asset. Equivalent education and experience considered.
