Description
You belong to the top echelon of talent in your field. At one of the world's most iconic financial institutions, where infrastructure is of paramount importance, you can play a pivotal role.As an Infrastructure Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platform - Web Hosting team, you will develop knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Through this work, you will leverage your deep experience to enable and support SRE transformation and culture within the IP Web Hosting team. The JPMC Web Operations & SRE Team is responsible for providing build, SRE, and operational support services for enterprise applications hosted on both internal and public clouds across multiple lines of business.
Job responsibilities
- Build, support, monitor, and automate web products across both AWS infrastructure and on-premises environments.
- Demonstrate and champion site reliability engineering culture and practices, exerting technical influence throughout the team.
- Lead initiatives to improve the reliability and stability of web hosting platforms, leveraging data-driven analytics to enhance service levels.
- Collaborate with team members to identify comprehensive service level indicators, and work with stakeholders to establish reasonable service level objectives and error budgets with customers.
- Exhibit a high level of technical expertise within one or more technical domains, proactively identifying and resolving technology-related bottlenecks in your areas of responsibility.
- Work closely with technical experts, key stakeholders, and team members to resolve complex problems.
- Provide comprehensive and ongoing guidance, tools, and solutions to support the firm's growth.
- Strive to become an expert on the applications and platforms under your influence, understanding their interdependencies and limitations across both cloud and on-premises environments.
- Document and share knowledge within your organization through internal forums and communities of practice.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 2+ years applied experience
- Hands-on experience with AWS, including working with AWS applications and a strong understanding of resiliency, scalability, observability, and monitoring.
- Experience with AWS cloud, including migration and optimization for cost efficiency and performance.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation languages (Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform) for infrastructure as code (IaC) and operational efficiency.
- Solid knowledge of infrastructure engineering areas such as operating systems (Linux/Windows), networking terminology and protocols, databases, deployment practices, and automation.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk) for effective alerting and analytics.
- Experience in designing and implementing comprehensive monitoring dashboards using Splunk or Dynatrace to support production environments.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, and Agile methodologies.
- Ability to execute implementation plans for high-performance, fault-tolerant systems within complex environments.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead meetings and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Hands-on experience and certifications in AWS, Azure, GCP, or other cloud environments.
- Experience utilizing Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code technologies for cloud resource management.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, conducting code reviews using GitHub, and automating processes with Python and other scripting languages.
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and experience in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions.
- Knowledge of observability tools and SRE best practices for monitoring and optimizing cloud operations.
- Strong motivation to expand infrastructure engineering expertise across emerging technologies and domains.
