ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design, develop, implement, and maintain control systems used to automate industrial processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and reliability. This position will require the applicant to become proficient in using Siemens TIA Portal software to program controllers and perform diagnostic troubleshooting of system faults, as well as become familiar with programming and editing the SIMATIC WinCC OA based SCADA interface. The applicant will also become knowledgeable of system components (I/O modules, Position Encoders, Limit switches, Pressure Sensors, VFDs, etc.) and how they are used in the system.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- This position works under minimal supervision and reports to the NRTF Engineering Manager.
- Must understand automation technologies to include Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and industrial robotics.
- System Design & Development: Designing new control systems, creating detailed plans, P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams), and electrical schematics using CAD software.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Performing system testing, commissioning new equipment, and troubleshooting issues with existing control systems, often requiring hands-on diagnostics with tools like multimeters.
- Documentation & Standards: Maintaining technical documentation, including design specifications, operation manuals, and change control records.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Systems engineering expertise includes the ability to develop, coordinate and present technical reviews.
- Collaboration & Support: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and process engineers, as well as providing technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams.
Job Requirements:
OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Engineering Manager as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering or similar degree and 0-4 years' experience. Proficient in the use of Mathcad; MATLAB; Simulink; and Microsoft Office.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Top Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports NRTF operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Job requirements will be performed in a well-lit, environmentally controlled atmosphere, as well as outdoors during performance of duties. Will be required to operate, inspect, and perform operator maintenance of government vehicles. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and stooping may be required.
