Position Summary:
The Audiovisual (AV) Field Engineer - II to provide technical commissioning support for audiovisual (AV) and IT systems in the field. This position requires hands-on technical expertise in AV systems integration, networking, audio and video equipment, and related software. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, punctual, and an effective communicator who can ensure high-quality commissioning of complex audiovisual installations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years providing technical AV/IT or field engineering support.
- Must obtain the following within one year of hire:
- AVIXA CTS
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent
- Proficiency in Windows and Apple operating systems.
- Ability to set up and color balance video displays.
- Experience loading, testing, and editing control code and GUI files (AMX, Crestron, Extron, QSC, etc.) with some remote support.
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as Python, HTML, and C#Pro, as well as communication protocols (IP, RS232, RS485, USB).
- Hands-on experience configuring and tuning common audio/video and conferencing systems.
- Experience with digital signal processors (Biamp, BSS, Crestron, Extron, QSC).
- Skilled in using software, hand tools, and test equipment related to AV and IT trades.
- Ability to configure wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Provide field engineering and technical support to project teams across all stages of AV system deployment.
- Configure, program, test, and troubleshoot AV/IT equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with project specifications.
- Collaborate with project teams to prepare control system submittals and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Load, test, and edit control code and GUI files, with remote support as needed.
- Conduct comprehensive systems testing, commissioning, and punch list creation.
- Support project completion by maintaining open communication with the project team and ensuring systems meet client expectations and achieve Final Acceptance.
- Verify that all systems are physically complete and compliant with contract documents.
- Identify and communicate potential change order opportunities to Project Leads.
- Accurately mark up field documentation and maintain organized archives of configuration files, code, and graphics.
- Assist in onboarding and training new AV Field Engineers as assigned.
- Deliver system training to clients or end users when required.
